While I can wipe out the bosses fairly easy, I do have to do a bit of dodging to even prep to hit them, and if I miss, it’ll be a real pain in the butt to hit the boss again! Zero also can’t use any of X’s armor upgrades or weapons, so my movement is different and I’m basically restricted to using a crummy version of the buster only during the actual levels.įor what it’s worth, the majority of the game wasn’t all that different from a standard X run except for a few sections. While you would think the ability to two-shot bosses and one-shot enemies would make this playthrough a breeze, unfortunately Zero’s attack requires a pretty long charge up, and his hitbox is slightly larger than X’s. I can still switch to the normal version of Zero during the game, and he comes with a fully upgraded health bar, but eventually he’ll get removed during some key sections of the game (namely the final boss.) So the gist of the challenge is that I’m playing a character that can two shot bosses, but I cannot upgrade them at all. * Zero cannot pick up any armor or health upgrades. Basically it’s Zero with X’s base health without upgrades. * The code basically replaces X with a weird hybrid of Zero and X. * Every time I die, I have to watch Zero’s death cutscene. * Zero’s Saber attack kills bosses in two shots. Since I’m using a Game Genie code, there’s a few benefits and problems I’ll be experiencing this playthrough. Using the following Game Genie code - 7E0A8E02- we’re basically tricking the game into thinking X is Zero. You can’t fight bosses with Zero either, so there’s almost no point in playing as him, and short of playing half the stage, dying as X and then playing the other half of the stage, there isn’t really a viable way to experience the game as Zero. If Zero dies once, you can’t ever use him again during the playthrough. If you switch back to X, you can’t use Zero again until you game over or beat the stage with X. Because Zero is unable to enter a boss door, that means you can only play as Zero in either the first half or the last half of the stage. Each stage in X3 has two sets of boss doors - the normal ones at the end of the stage, and another in the center that allow some separate boss encounters with Bit and Byte in the middle. X3 adds the ability to play as Zero to the series, but the default settings in the game basically make this feature worthless. So here’s where things start getting weird.
